Inspired by the countless taquerias that co-founder and McAllen, TX native Ana-Maria Jaramillo grew up with on both sides of the Texas-Mexico border, La Tejana offers a slice of the rich culinary traditions of the Rio Grande Valley in DC. With house-made flour tortillas and simple, no-frills ingredients made from scratch with mucho amor and no corner cutting, La Tejana seeks to pay homage to the countless mom-and-pop taquerias that people can’t get enough of across the state of Texas. La Tejana was born out of necessity- no one wants to live in DC without legit breakfast tacos!
La Tejana’s breakfast taco menu features several delicious tacos to choose from. Like the Tio Willie with a house-made flour tortilla, scrambled eggs, bacon, fried potatoes, and queso drizzle. The other delicious options include the El Frijolito, La Choripapa, The 956, and the vegetarian option the Super Migas.
La Tejana is located at 3211 MT Pleasant Street NW, Washington, DC 20010; and is open from Wednesdays through Sundays from 7:30 am until 1 pm.
