Best Ways to Celebrate Cinco De Mayo

Every May 5th, we celebrate Cinco de Mayo! The celebration of Mexico’s victory over the French during the French-Mexican war in 1862. Cinco de Mayo is celebrated through parades, festivals, folk dancing, fiestas, and food. But, one of the best ways to celebrate the holiday is to honor Mexican culture, community, and traditions. Explore a few ways to authentically celebrate Cinco de Mayo.

Learn the history of the holiday and the importance of May 5th in Mexican culture.

-Support Mexican businesses. Find a local business in your community and purchase authentic food, desserts, or decor.

-Take a trip to an art gallery or museum.

-Listen to Mexican music. Purchase or stream some classic mariachi and ranchera music, or discover something more modern.

-Try your hand at making your own Mexican food. There is so much more to Mexican cuisine than margaritas and tacos, like enchiladas and huevos rancheros

Between listening to music, decorating your space, and eating delicious food- make sure to have a great time celebrating Cinco de Mayo this year!
