International Spy Museum: One of DC’s Best-Kept Secrets
Washington is known for its wide array of top-notch museums, and one of the city’s most unique sites is the International Spy Museum. Current exhibits include the espionage-oriented "Stealing Secrets," in which visitors learn about techniques like planting bugs, covert communication, developing a disguise, and more. You might also visit the "Decision Room" exhibit, where you’ll be able to take an inside look at the ways that spymasters evaluate the intelligence they receive, and take actions based on it. You’ll even get to participate in a reenactment of the analysis and decision-making process used in the hunt for Osama Bin Laden.
Whether you’re most fascinated by decoding secret messages, recognizing imposters, or other critical counterintelligence activities, you should find something to interest everyone here. The museum has reopened for in-person visits, and stresses the importance of all guests adhering to social distancing and mask rules. Advance tickets are highly recommended.
