Make ZooLights Your New Holiday Tradition
If you find yourself with some free time this holiday season, fill it with a trip to ZooLights. The annual event at the Smithsonian’s National Zoo has become something of a tradition for DC residents. Thousands of sparkling lights, live entertainment, and holiday treats all contribute to the appeal of the festive and totally free event.
Now through January 1st, ZooLights takes over the National Zoo every night from 5 to 9 p.m., except for December 24th, 25th, and 31st. Stroll around the zoo and take in the stunning light display, composed of more than 500,000 twinkling lights. Enjoy live music on the Great Meadow as a special interactive light display nearby dances along to the beat. Head to Gingerbread Village to see the larger-than-life gingerbread masterpieces. Nibble on cotton candy and cookies as you watch a laser light show. These attractions and many others await at ZooLights.
