Sizzlin’ Sri Lankan & Indian Dishes at Banana Leaf

5014 Connecticut Ave. NW

Banana Leaf is the first Sri Lankan restaurant to service the DC area. Sri Lankan cuisine is a mixture of south Indian and British Colonial influences, with rice, coconut, and spices taking center stage in most dishes. At Banana Leaf, the coconut lentil soup and the lamb biryani are popular local favorites. They also have a number of vegetarian options as well as a healthy eating section in their menu. Located right down the street from 5333 Connecticut Ave. apartments.

Inviting Italian at  Arucola

5534 Connecticut Ave. NW

The highlight of this fine family-style Italian establishment is their gourmet pizza. Choose from a huge list of pizzas topped with basil sauces, gorgonzola cheese, spinach, spicy Cappocollo ham and other fine ingredients.

Of course, they Arucola also has an extensive selection of traditional Italian dishes, including pastas like pappardelle, linguine, and risotto. Check their schedule for ½ price full bottle wine nights. Also right down the block from 5333 on Connecticut Ave. NW.

Tasty Thai Cuisine at Siam House

3520 Connecticut Ave. NW

Start off with some delicious appetizers like Thai shrimp cakes or savory beef salad. Then try their famous Siam House tom yum lemongrass soup (yummy!) and pad thai or pad see ew noodles. Move onto satisfying entree options like chicken pineapple or spicy red panang curry. Finish it all off with fried dessert banana. Delicious!

Siam House is also an excellent option for take-out. It’s conveniently located down the street on Connecticut Ave. over in Cleveland Park.

Good German Eats at Old Europe

2434 Wisconsin Ave. NW

This is the best place to sample authentic German cuisine in the DC area. You can order their Wurstteller plate to experience an assortment of handmade sausages, including knackwurst, bratwurst, and other “wursts”. These are served up in bite-sized fashion with delicious mustard. Old Europe also serves up a variety of traditional dishes like Hungarian beef stew or Bavarian-style roasted pork. They also have a world-class selection of German schnapps and cordials.

Fantastic French Food at Terasol

5010 Connecticut Ave. NW

Terasol French Bistro serves up some of the tastiest dishes and appetizers in Chevy Chase. Check out their smoked salmon, cold cut plate, or cheese samplers to start off your experience. Their truffle deviled eggs are also scrumptious appetizer choices.

Try their bavette grillee a l’eschalotte (steak with shallots and fries) or their filet de morue grillee (seared Icelandic cod) for entree choices. They also have an extensive wine list for pairing with your meal selections. If you’re into some lighter fare, check out their crepe menu. As an added bonus, the front section of the bistro showcases local arts and crafts handmade by DC artisans.
